We have been filming in two locations and finished up here at The Eco-Shed where, for the very first time, The Splinter was assembled and the drive mechanism put through some gentle cycles and... By jove Watson, it works!!!
Relief is not the word, if it hadn't sprung into life then I would have looked like a complete todger, especially as I have been blogging about how I was about to reinvent the bicycle and put the industry as we know it on it's knees... Face+Egg=Fool, etc etc.
Before all the fun of the afternoon, we were at North Heigham Sawmills in Norwich, where I selected some hardwood which is destined to be made into bushes and spacers to locate the several wooden axles for the all-wood drive mechanism.
Lignum Vitae was the timber of choice on my shopping list today because it is a unique wood that has been used to make Ship Bearings, Saw Blocks and all sorts of unique products for over 130 years.
